Space Practices:
no substances.
no talking or phones on the dance floor.
no outdoor shoes on the dance floor.
stay in movement (whatever that is for you) until the cool down/stillness.
touch/contact only with consent.

Background of the birthing of this project:
Moving my body helps me process and digest my life experience. Shaking, dancing, moving unstucks me. Even and especially when I feel awkward, insecure, uncomfortable- staying through the practice brings me somewhere different at the end.

We are each dealing with personal challenges and collectively with violent violations of our mother earth, humans and animals. Whether conscious or not- we’re all going through a lot. These times require connection, trust and bravery. We can remember our power and courage through our bodies. We can move together through grief, pain, tears, loss, and anger.

Occasionally during the beginning of dance my mind is rebelling against my body having lead. Not wanting to give up its power in my life [sometimes it’s dictatorship] to another way of being, way of processing, way of leading. My mind is extremely supportive in keeping me processing what I’m conscious or aware of. My body welcomes the sub and unconscious/ the pre verbal, non verbal, emotional, ineffable.

This is a movement space to support having bodytime in your life. A container for body having the lead. This may be extremely uncomfortable for some, occasionally easeful for others, and the experience is likely to change every time.

For folks who don’t dance or relate with dancing with deep complexity- shaking is a means of accessing body without all the other shit attached to it. You can shake the whole time (ex: your finger, your head, your tongue, your hips). You can move through the space, stomping, gliding, skipping. You can let your face show the story of your guts. And you can catch a groove, boogie near others, be completely weird and most importantly let your body have the spotlight of your attention and awareness.
