Somatic Body Work

thrubody; Somatic Body Work offers touch techniques in care of the wholeness-of-being where bodywork is generative, supportive, healing, relational and adaptable.

This somatic bodywork approach centers body autonomy, relational connection and consent. It is an integration of multiple modalities/lineages of touch work (written about below), nervous system (body, mind, imagination, connection in the relational web, sensations, emotions) awareness and care, and acknowledgement of the earth that holds us, the air that breathes us, the fire that enlivens us, the water that changes us and the love that remembers.

mars Eskina of thrubody utilizes the tools, techniques and magic of Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Somatic Experiencing, Myofascial release, and Tul’ix Indigenous arts (formerly known as Arvigo Maya Abdominal Techniques). In 2016, after they completed their massage therapy degree at the Swedish Institute in NYC, they worked at a few spas, Naturopathica and Bella Sante before opening their private practice. They were drawn to Tul’ix Indigenous arts as a way of personal healing, having experienced a sacral injury that they didn’t know what to do with. Tul’ix massage is focused on the abdomen, lower back, sacrum and tailbone. This hands on work supports the organs in moving to their optimal places, while including the whole body and spirit in it’s focus. The practice and techniques originate from the Masawal Maya peoples of the Yucatan region. mars is continuing their studies with this lineage and hoping to soon be able to teach methods of organ + abdominal self-care to the Tucson community and beyond.
